To access the Admin console features, you must first log in using an administrative username and password. Your administrative username and password are created by your system administrator.
You must have JavaScript enabled for your web browser in order to use the Admin console. When you access the Login page, if the Log In button is disabled, then JavaScript is not enabled for your browser. (If you are using Safari, the Log In button is not disabled if Javascript is not enabled.)
If you access the Admin console and JavaScript is not enabled for your browser, the Login page displays this message: “JavaScript is disabled. You must use a JavaScript-enabled browser to use the admin console. Please enable JavaScript and reload the page to try again.”
The administrative user session times out after 60 minutes of inactivity. If you attempt to continue working within that user session, the software either redisplays the Login page or displays an error message indicating that an unexpected error has occurred. You must log in again to begin another administrative user session.
To log into the Admin console
| 1 | Go to the Admin console. |
| 2 | Enter your administrative username in the Username field. |
Note: The username is case sensitive.
| 3 | Enter your administrative password in the Password field. |
Note: As you enter your password in the Password field, the software masks what you have entered.
| 4 | Choose Log In. |
If your login attempt fails, the software displays an error message. Re-enter and submit your login information again.
Important: If your library is using asset management with accountability, it is possible that you can log in to Portfolio but not be authenticated. When this happens, a message appears in the Admin console that states that your account is not authenticated. This happens when your authentication account name or password for Symphony is not entered correctly, or you have changed your password in Symphony but it has not been changed in Portfolio. You will have access to the tools in Portfolio that you have rights to, unless those tools require accountability. You will not have access to assets that require accountability.
If your login attempt succeeds, your account name appears next to Log Out in the navigation bar for the duration of your administrative user session.
